On June 14, 2004, the program named Kent Syverud, now dean of Washington University Law School, as the winner of the “Outstanding Contributions to Legal Writing Education” Award. A special award for “Professionalism in Law” was given to Honorary Tom Phillips, former Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court.
