Your connection to knowledge, resources and networking

Dear ALA Member:

ALA is once again proud to remind you of its continued association with The Burton Awards for Legal Achievement. The annual Burton Awards competition is now open, with five categories of competition open to ALA members (and their employers) only. They include:

ALA members may nominate a magazine, compendium, newsletter or other communication that was published by their firm. The entry must be in written form, rather than Internet disseminated, published during 2009 and must have been intended to inform clients or the public about legal issues or subjects. Judging criteria will include writing style and technique, research, analysis and content. Awards will be given for first place and for honorable mention in each above category.

To enter the competition, simply complete the ALA nomination form online at www.burtonawards.com and send two copies of the materials or item(s) being entered, to The Burton Awards for Legal Achievement, #0051, 110 Wall Street, 11th Floor, New York, New York 10005-3198.

Nominations can only be submitted by an ALA member. There is no lengthy application process and no entry fee. There is no limitation on length or format. If newsletter or publication is published regularly during the year it is suggested that no less than a sampling of up to four samples be forwarded.

The 2010 Burton Awards Program will be held in the Great Hall of The Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. in June.

The Burton Awards program is a nonprofit event that is also held in association with the Library of Congress and its Law Library.

The Burton Awards are sponsored by the Association of Legal Administrators, with LexisNexis as a participating contributor. For further information or if you have questions, please call the Burton Awards directly at (212) 672-1862.
